Rylee Holwager: A Journey of Journalism
Hello class! My name is Rylee Holwager and I am so excited to have the opportunity to grow with you all!
As a journalism major, you can probably assume that I love writing, but I also am an active participant in other creative mediums such as drawing, painting, and creating video content. However, out of all of these, writing is my main passion.
On February 4th, 2019 I officially began my journey in journalism, after changing my major from marine biology. I worked very hard and diligently at College of the Canyons to ensure I would be gaining all the proper education and resources to one day achieve my goal of becoming a fashion journalist.
At College of the Canyons I utilized every opportunity I was given, which ended up making me top of my class in one of my classes. I soon moved on to participate in the college’s news program, Canyons News, which gave me a press pass and the official title of a multimedia journalist.
I offically earned my Associates Degree in Journalism from COC on June 5th, 2020. A semester later, I transferred on to CSUN and I am now holding Junior status.
When I am not actively working on news, I try to keep myself writing about anything and everything. January 2nd, 2019 I started my blog IAmRylee where I post all my writing ranging from school work to poetry to fashion.
Having my own blog space allows me to express myself creatively without worrying too much on format and critically thinking.
I hope this little introduction gives you insight of not only who I am as a writer, but who I am as a person. I’m looking forward to working with you all and learning from you!
